I'll take Jesus over Oschter Haws
I often wondered, but never cared to look too hard, about how the bunny came into the picture. I mean, we have Santa at Christmas which really has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus but we also have this bunny or "Oschter Haws" as it was known in Germany in the 1500s which was the bunny that came bringing colored eggs to your house on Easter morning. This was the first time the egg and the bunny were mixed together. Springtime, bunnies, birth of a new season...yada yada I get it. But, Easter, is so much more, right? Absolutely. Not only do we get a good day with family, but we get to celebrate the fact that our Jesus brought freedom and salvation to all of us Christians and gave the opportunity to anyone that would just believe and surrender their life to him. Our sunday school teacher called is Christianity 101. I guess that is one way of putting it. He also said it is a simple concept...while it is a simple concept...living it out is not easy. He never said it would be easy. In fact, WE can not do it on our own. However, through Him (John 14:6), we can be on the winning side...eternity with Him! Thank you sir. Imagine...Mary when she saw those angels and then saw Jesus standing there! What a wonderful feeling to know that He was not defeated. That man that she loved and had so much faith...shouldn't we feel that every day?
Words from a beautiful song:
my precious son, i hear them screaming
and i am watching the face of the enemy beaming
but soon I will clothe them in robes of my own
Jesus this hurts me much more than you know
but this dark hour...I will do nothing
but, i hear your unbearable cries
the power in your blood destroys all of the lies
soon you'll see past their unmerciful eyes
look down below and see the child.
trembling by her father's side
Now I can tell you why
She is why you must die
