Another year added for lily-loo

This has been a gorgeous weekend. This weather is my absolute favorite...not too hot but sunny sunny sunny. Saturday, I ran in the McGuire's race. I always say I wish my best friends would come down and run it one year and I never remember until race day. People dress crazy...and I mean crazy. How can you run with a pot of gold attached to you? I did see Superman or Batman leaning over about to puke at about mile 2. One superhero...down. I bet he felt awesome. I ran it in 28:30 which wasn't what I wanted but I felt like I had to stop every 10 feet to go around someone or jump up on the curb to keep moving forward. There seemed to be way many more walkers this year...the party at the end is what entices most people. I had to leave right after to get ready for Lily's 4th birthday party. She had it at Funplex in Gulf Breeze. It is a gymnastics training facility. They had the trampoline, bouncy floors, awesome pit, swinging rope. I am considering having my 33rd birthday party there since I had so much fun. Be aware...those pits are way harder to get out of than you would imagine. especially after running in a race. But, worth every dive. Thanks for a fun party Lily...so fun watching you grow into a little lady.

Dad thought it looked fun...until he couldn't get out by himself.

And the winner is.........

The Whitest Kids You Know... (I was just to the right)

Kelli and I had to take a looksie...

This was the fabulous Anais that got us into Skybar...her fab bro "not pictured"

Pictures were forbidden...but I thought I would sneak one of Elton's way...cant miss that hair

Kelli! Kel was the winner of my heart last week. That gal has always been the wazzle, but she overdid it for me this time. I was fortunate enough to go visit Kelli in LA and work at the 25th anniversary Independent Spirit Awards. Most people have asked me what they are? Basically, a mini version of the oscars lately since many of these indie films are "making it big" such as Precious, Crazy Heart, Last STation, etc. Rememeber Juno? Those are all fine examples. I want to give a run down of my trip since everyone has been asking, plus...I don't want to ever forget it! Thank you Kelli for a magnificent visit to sunny cali and for enabling me to rub the elbow of the fab Stepmom, Susan Surandon.
I arrived Wednesday in a nauseated state from the plane ride...I felt as if I had been to the fair for 5 hours and sat in the teacups the entire time. Rough feeling. However, after being on ground for a couple of hours, I was up to par. We had our meeting about the award show and given our assignments. Mine: The Whitest Kids You Know...Who are they, you might ask. They are a comedy troupe that performs sketch comedy on IFC (Indie Film Channel). Kelli had Marisa Tomei...too fun. Others had presenters like Ryan Reynolds, Jodi Foster, Ben Stiller, Ethan Hawke, Matt Dillon...the list goes on. We left the meeting all excited about our peeps. That night, Kelli and a friend of hers (and his sister) took us to Skybar and to the Roger Room afterwards. It was a fantastic little place and we walked right by Mr. David Spade himself.
Thursday, Kelli had to work. I had a wonderful time shopping at The Grove, sipping Coffee Bean, and had lunch with my long lost friend Gabe from Pelham! We ate at Santa Monica and I had delicious fish tacos. Yumsie. Now, for a big moment...Kelli tells me that we are going to Susan Surandon's pre-oscar party at SkyBar that was a ping pong event. There, I literally rubbed elbows with my favorite Stepmom, cut a rug with her daughter, and chatted a moment with Pauly Shore. Kelli snatched Jamie Fox's ping pong ball and we also saw the cast from Big Bang Theory there. I am sure there were many more that we missed, but we had a blast! One funny story: this guy kept staring at me and finally came and stood next to me and said "hello. you are an actress". When I smiled and said "no", he took off. Wow...those some shallow folks.
Friday, we did a little more shopping after sleeping in and enjoying the laziness. That night we headed for the award show. It was amazing. I have never enjoyed people watching that much. There were way too many stars to list that I saw. However, these were my highlights: Jodi Foster, Lenny Kravitz, Marisa Tomei, Pierce Brosnan (James Bond), Helen Mirren, Elton John, Mariah Carey, Collin Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds (um, hello), Ethan Hawke (i use to have his poster on my wall...Mystery DAte and Reality Bites were some favs), Matt Dillon (hello..Singles), the list goes on. James Bond was pretty cool...and doesnt everyone remember Remington Steele? It was amazing. My guys were very nice, but seemed a little preoccupied. I think they thought I was a stalker because I couldn't take my eyes off of them. Just doing my job. Seriously, they were cool peeps. The red carpet (actually blue) was fun and a little overwhelming. I did get a great gift bag with some goodies and gift certificates. I highly recommend that job!!! The afterparty was fun as well. I did have someone ask if they could take my picture. :) How fun is that?
The next day we went shopping and then hung out with some of Kelli's friends. It was truly wonderful. I had some incredible sleep and many wow moments. I can't wait to do another one!
